While China`s support for the settlement of border disputes is subordinated to the Tibetan issue, India would continue to cling to the Tibet map if border disputes are not resolved. Moreover, the shift in the global and regional image – from China`s move towards “effective regionalism”, the strengthening of relations with Pakistan and its utter disregard for counter-opinions on controversial issues like the South China Sea – has only worsened the chances of finding a quick solution. As after 1962, at the Sino-Indian border in Ladakh, no rounds were fired and to avoid escalation, these non-firing routines were pierced into the soldiers. Twenty Indian soldiers have lost their lives in the recent border fighting with China in the Galwan Valley. It was the most violent border dispute with China after the 1962 war.
